The Plant/Operations Manager prepares production and personnel schedules. Records and supervises (through a number of supervisors) all plant production and related support services from the receiving and sorting of soiled goods to the loading of processed linen, etc. for return to the customer. The Plant/Operations Manager administers policies and procedures applicable to the efficient operation of the facility while maintaining a safe environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organizes and directs workflow to satisfy production/service requirements in a cost-efficient manner.
Manages the development and training of the staff in efficiently producing a high-quality linen product.
Researches and develops cost-effective alternatives and improvements to the production process.
Assists with the financial management of the costs and expenses in the operation of the plant, including payroll and labor costs.
Assists in assuring the cost-effective operation of the plant, while maintaining a safe work environment for the staff.
The ability to read, interpret and understand a P&L financial statement.
Assists Vice President in forecasting for capital requests/expenditures. Helps to manage the installation and operation of all new equipment. Assists the Maintenance Manager in reviewing new equipment and productivity improvement issues.
Responsible for completion of 90 day and annual performance appraisals of staff as well as disciplinary/coaching for improvement procedures.
Acts as a liaison with Human Resources to insure all human resource issues such as training, regulatory compliance, staffing, payroll and benefit administrations for the entire staff is scheduled and completed within policy requirements. Assures all new hires and current employees receive regulatory training.
Develops Action Plans and Personal Development Plans (PDP) for current supervisory team, assuring their growth and success. Must be able to develop a succession plan for his/her position so as the business grows there is a successful development of our corporate culture when new and additional job opportunities present themselves.
Production & Planning
Establishes and controls conditions of production/service in order to satisfy customer and quality and production specifications.
Directs production supervisors in the provision and execution of operating strategies and plans.
Acts as a liaison with Maintenance to ensure the safe operation and upkeep of all production equipment.
Assists in production and communication of weekly reporting as required.
Schedules assignments and sets production standards.
Ensures that, as the company grows, processing capabilities meet or exceed all industry and customer requirements for cost, quality, and responsiveness
Executes a continuous improvement approach to ensure year-over-year productivity improvements are realized
Responsible for setting goals and objectives for direct reports to ensure company objectives are met.

BS/BA or equivalent with minimum of 5 years of progressive management experience
Must have experience supervising operations within a production environment
Must be able to communicate with, motivate, and train others
Able to interact with all levels of Plant Management
Ability to multi-task and establish priorities
Ability to maintain control and organization in a constant changing environment
Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership
Must be available to work long hours and weekends (facility open 7 days a week)
Proficient in Microsoft Office
